Introducing Katie Simkover:

“I began my yoga practice in 2006 in Santa Cruz California. From my practice in Santa Cruz I developed a liking for warrior yoga, specifically engaging and strengthening core muscles. I have been teaching yoga as a Field Guide at Open Sky Wilderness Therapy for over two years. I received my 200 hour Yoga Teacher Certification in Baja from Yandara Institute this past December. My practice is energetic and involves strength and toning as well as Vinyasa and Hatha Flow. I love to mix core strengthening with meditative movement. I fell in love with climbing when I moved to the Southwest, and think my yoga is the perfect fit to be in great climbing shape.”

*First Class Wed. March 26th 6:30 p.m.-8:00p.m. $14 walk in.  More classes to be posted Monday.

Also new to the Gym is Cori Wright:

Cori has dedicated her life to studying the connection between mind and the physiology of the human body. Her path began early by becoming a personal trainer in order to put herself through school for a degree in biological anthropology, but after five years of training clients and studying life patterns on bones, noticed that her clients were still not getting the whole picture of health.

A new awareness and challenge began when she was diagnosed with HHT, a rare blood disease, and became very sick in her early twenties. Western medicine said this was her fate and there was nothing that could be done, and she could not lead the same active outdoor life as before. Refusing to believe this fate, she committed herself to 90 days of hot vinyasa practice; her symptoms had nearly disappeared, and she knew this was her path. She attended her 200-hour yoga teacher training in Uttarkashi, India in the Himalayas in Ashtanga Vinyasa, and has since been committed to studying, sharing, and helping others discover the path of yoga to help whatever path they are on; whether it be becoming a better climber, runner, parent, friend, or human being.

Cori’s classes vary, with strong influences of Ashtanga, Iyengar, power vinyasa, and yin, with a strong incorporation of all aspects of classical yoga and the incorporation of pranayama and meditation.
